Dr. Yu Xin, a native of China, is a versatile violinist whose career spans orchestral performance, chamber music, and teaching. She joined the Grand Rapids Symphony in 2025 and has served as Associate Concertmaster of the Battle Creek Symphony Orchestra since 2019. She also performs regularly with the Kalamazoo, Illinois, Flint, and Lansing Symphony Orchestras, as well as the Fort Wayne Philharmonic. An active chamber musician, Dr. Xin has collaborated with and received guidance from distinguished ensembles including the Shanghai, Takács, Armida, and Woodward String Quartets. Her ensemble, the Clover Trio, won third prize in the 2022 Music Teachers National Association Chamber Music Competition. She currently serves on the violin faculty at the Flint Institute of Music and Grand Valley State University.
