
About Jonathan
Double Bassist Jonathan Reed grew up in St. Joseph, MI where his parents served as music educators and professional musicians. He is a graduate of Michigan State University, attended the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University in Houston, TX and was a fellow with the New World Symphony, Miami Florida, under the direction of Michael Tilson Thomas. Jonathan attended multiple music festivals including the Aspen Music Festival and School, the Music Academy of the West, Domaine Forget, and the Brevard Music Center. Jonathan currently performs with both the Grand Rapids Symphony and the Lansing Symphony Orchestra. Jonathan teaches in Lansing, taught privately in the Cypress Fairbanks and Clear Creek school districts in Texas, served as Artist-in Residence for the St Joseph, MI, Public Schools Orchestra Program and, through his work with the New World Symphony, taught at the Iber Academy in Medellin, Columbia and for the Miami, Florida, Music Project, an El Sistema inspired program.
