Robert Byrens · piano

Robert Byrens, pianist, has enjoyed performing with the Chamber Music Festival of Saugatuck since the summer of 1995 and served as the Associate Artistic Director from 1999 to 2008. Robert currently serves as an artist faculty member in collaborative piano at Grand Valley State University where he specializes in vocal repertoire. He is also rehearsal pianist/vocal coach for Opera Grand Rapids. Robert studied music at the American Boychoir School, Olivet College (1979), Geneva Conservatory, Western Michigan University, Westminster Choir College, and Indiana University at South Bend. He has attended numerous summer music festivals including: Interlochen, Los Angeles Philharmonic Institute Orchestra, Blossom Festival, Fontana Concert Society, and Garth Newel. Also a violist, Robert is a former member of the Perugino String Quartet and performed with the Grand Rapids, South Bend, Kalamazoo, and Battle Creek Symphonies.
