Perugino String Quartet

Perugino String Quartet

  • Eric Tanner, violin
  • Diane McElfish, violin
  • Barbara Corbato, viola
  • Stacey Bosman Tanner, cello

The Perugino String Quartet is enjoying its twelfth year as quartet-in-residence at Grand Valley State University. Named for the Italian Renaissance artist Pietro Perugino from Grand Rapids' sister city, Perugia, Italy, the ensemble is dedicated to performing both great classics of the string quartet repertoire and a variety of exciting new chamber works. The quartet has centered its activities in West Michigan, offering more than forty performances on both GVSU campuses and over fifty concerts for high schools, colleges and chamber music series around the state, including Saugatuck, Holland, Grand Haven, Muskegon, Mt. Pleasant and Lansing. Since 2006, the quartet has come together with classes in GVSU's College of Interdisciplinary Studies for a new type of collaboration entitled "Perugino Dialogues". The quartet also joins forces with other members of GVSU's music faculty each year for performances of larger chamber works. A highlight for the quartet was their 1999 performance in an all-Beethoven concert in New York's Lincoln Center as part of the prestigious Juilliard String Quartet Seminar.
