The Perugino String Quartet is enjoying its 14th year as quartet-in-residence at Grand Valley State University. Named for the Italian Renaissance artist Pietro Perugino from Grand Rapids' sister city, Perugia, Italy, the quartet has centered its activities in West Michigan, offering performances on both GVSU campuses and concerts for high schools, colleges and chamber music series around the state. A highlight for the quartet was their 1999 performance in an all-Beethoven concert in New York's Lincoln Center as part of the prestigious Juilliard String Quartet Seminar. All of the quartet members perform regularly in the Grand Rapids Symphony.
Perugino String Quartet first violinist Eric Tanner, a graduate of UMassand the Manhattan School of Music, is an Artist-Faculty Instructor ofViolin at GVSU.

Diane McElfish Helle, second violinist, known for many years as the host of the Grand Rapids Symphony's Upbeat pre-concert lecture series, has degrees from Cincinnati College and Conservatory of Music, and Indiana University.
Violist Barbara Corbato is currently the Assistant Principal Viola of the Grand Rapids Symphony. Ms. Corbato teaches viola at Hope College and through her home studio.
Cellist Stacey Bosman Tanner, a graduate of the University of Michigan and Boston Conservatory, teaches at Calvin College.
