Jennifer Walvoord · Violin
Jennifer and her husband, Andrew Le, are thrilled to be in their first year as Artistic Directors of the Chamber Music Festival of Saugatuck. Jennifer is an active chamber musician. She and Andrew enjoy giving both formal recitals and informal house concerts. In 2007, Jennifer’s piano quintet performed at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. as part of the Millenium Stage Concert Series.
As a soloist and orchestral musician, Jennifer remains very busy. In the spring of 2010, Jennifer will be featured as a soloist with the West Shore Symphony Orchestra. She has also made concerto appearances with the Holland Symphony Orchestra. Jennifer collaborated with her sister, Martha, on a recording called “American Perspectives” which will be released on the Centaur Records Label. In addition to her position as West Shore Symphony Orchestra concertmaster, Jennifer is member of the Grand Rapids Symphony. While at the University of Michigan, Jennifer performed electric violin on the Grammy Award-winning recording of William Bolcom’s Songs of Innocence and Experience conducted by Leonard Slatkin.
Currently, Jennifer is on the violin faculty of Calvin College. She also held the position of Visiting Assistant Professor of Violin at Hope College during the spring of 2007.
Jennifer earned her DMA at the University of Michigan. In addition, she has two MM degrees in violin performance and chamber music from the University of Michigan, and a BM from Hope College. Her primary teachers include Andrew Jennings, Mihai Craioveanu, and Joan Conway.
