Jennifer Walvoord

Jennifer Walvoord · violin

Jennifer and her husband, Andrew Le, are in their third year as Artistic Directors of the Chamber Music Festival of Saugatuck. Jennifer is an active chamber musician. She and Andrew enjoy giving both formal recitals and informal house concerts. In 2007, Jennifer’s piano quintet performed at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. as part of the Millennium Stage Concert Series.

As a soloist and orchestral musician, Jennifer remains very busy. In the spring of 2010, she was featured as a soloist with the West Michigan Symphony (Muskegon, MI). She has also made concerto appearances with the Holland Symphony Orchestra. Jennifer collaborated with her sister, Martha, on a recording called “American Perspectives” which is due to be released on the Centaur Records Label. In addition to her position as West Michigan Symphony concertmaster, Jennifer is a member of the Grand Rapids Symphony. While at the University of Michigan, Jennifer served as concertmaster of the University Symphony Orchestra and performed electric violin on the Grammy Award-winning recording of William Bolcom’s Songs of Innocence and Experience conducted by Leonard Slatkin.

Currently, Jennifer is on the violin faculty of Calvin College. Jennifer earned her DMA at the University of Michigan. In addition, she has two MM degrees in violin performance and chamber music from the University of Michigan, and a BM from Hope College. Her primary teachers include Andrew Jennings, Mihai Craioveanu, and Joan Conway.
