Jonathan Holden

Jonathan Holden · clarinet

Jonathan Holden is presently Assistant Professor of Clarinet at the University of Southern Mississippi and the newly appointed clarinet professor at Florida State University. He is Principal Clarinetist of the West Michigan Symphony and a member of chamber groups Category 5, the Argot Trio and the Vireo Ensemble. He has performed with numerous American ensembles including the Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Mississippi, Baton Rouge and Mobile symphony orchestras, the Louisiana Philharmonic and the Sarasota Orchestra.

Holden made his concerto debut at the age of seventeen and has since given concerto performances at venues in Britain and the United States. He has made guest appearances with ensembles such as the Degas, Ciompi and Voxare string quartets and has performed as a soloist and chamber musician by invitation of the British Clarinet Congress, College Music Society, Festival South, Festival Contempoaneo (Brazil), Alfredo de Saint Malo Festival (Panama), Saugatuck Music Festival, Chamber Music Wilmington and American Music Festival.

Holden studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in England with Dame Thea King, Andrew Webster and Joy Farrall, and at Michigan State University with Dr. Elsa Verdehr. Jonathan Holden is a Rico Artist.
