Henry Wong Doe · piano
A native of New Zealand, Henry Wong Doe has garnered top prizes, including two “Audience Favorite” awards in the Rubinstein, Busoni and Sydney International Piano Competitions.
Mr. Wong Doe has performed at major venues including the Sydney Opera House in Australia, Royal Conservatory, Brussels, Lincoln Center, New York and the Mann Auditorium in Tel Aviv, Israel. Last November he made his debut appearance at Carnegie Weill Recital Hall, performing solo and interactive piano/player piano works by Ravel, Messiaen, Ligeti, Risset, including a world premiere by New York based composer Brendan Adamson.
Henry Wong Doe has performed with the Sydney Symphony, Australian Chamber, Auckland Philharmonia and Israel Philharmonic Orchestras, and collaborated with conductors Christopher Hogwood, Mendi Rodan, Fabio Mechetti, Michael Christie and Edvard Tchivzel. Mr. Wong Doe’s prize winning performances at the 2000 Sydney International Piano Competition were recorded and released on the Australian ABC Classics label.
Following a Master’s degree at Indiana University, Henry Wong Doe graduated with his Doctor of Musical Arts degree from The Juilliard School in New York. His teachers have included Evelyne Brancart, Leonard Hokanson, Joseph Kalichstein and Richard Goode.
