Blake Hinson · bass
Blake Hinson 22, Double Bassist, is from West Des Moines, Iowa. Blake was accepted, at age sixteen, to The Curtis Institute of music. At Curtis, he studied with Principal Bass of the Philadelphia Orchestra, Harold Robinson, and soloist Edgar Meyer. Mr. Hinson has spent three summers at the Aspen Music Festival on fellowship playing in Chamber/Festival orchestra, in the summer of 2006; he won the low strings competition. Mr. Hinson has also won third prize in the senior ISB competition, and made his solo debut at Boston’s Symphony Hall. Mr. Hinson has played with the New World Symphony as a fellow and performed with the Philadelphia orchestra. Blake began work most recently as Principal bass of the Grand Rapids Symphony
