Dylan Perez • piano

Dylan Perez is a recent graduate of Black River Public School and has been studying piano since the age of 5½. He began studying with Mary Westernbroek and currently studies under Joan Conway. During the winter of 2006, Dylan won the Grand Rapids Youth Orchestra Concerto Competition and the Norberg Mueller Concerto Competition. As a result, he performed the first movement of Grieg’s Piano Concerto with the Grand Rapids Youth Orchestra and the Holland Symphony Orchestra. In 2007 he was awarded 2nd place in the Senior Piano Division at MMTA State Finals, and this spring he was the state winner in that competition. He also placed first in GVSU’s 20th/21st Century Music Competition this spring. He plans to attend the University of Michigan, majoring in Piano Performance.
